Melany & Ingmar
Artist, Author, FarmerMelany Pietersen is an internationally published artist and illustrator currently living on a small farm in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Her unique and vibrant art has been on exhibit around the world, and as an active member of the SCBWI, she recently was awarded 'Best Portfolio' at SCBWI (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators) Winchester conference held 2014, British Isles.
Ingmar Blumer is an organic farmer, and supplies fresh produce to the local organic market and community. Over the years he realized that food is medicine, and that growing organic food is of vital importance.
Recently Ingmar & Melany started combining their interests and skills to combat the food security issue that the world is currently facing. Together they believe that the way forward is to educate current and future generations on how to grow their own food. In major cities across the globe, healthy organic food has become unaffordable to to lower income masses. These already needy people have been stuck with the cheaper option of eating a less nutritious GMO staple diet, which in turn results in poor health, perpetuating the cycle of poverty. From Fun To Food plans to put the power to change this epidemic through fun educational materials.

Let's Grow & Let's Sprout Book SeriesFrom Fun to Food™ is a series of small educational books on how to grow organic food. This would enable almost any child, from any class or demographic to take part in growing healthy food for themselves and their families. The book series also teaches one how to use and recycle everyday materials for pots and garden tools. Parents and grand parents are also encouraged to help grow and educate, using From Fun to Food™ materials. Nutritional facts, combined with colorful illustrations, this fun and 'down to earth' series demonstrates in a step-by-step way, how to sprout and grow your own healthy food.
From Fun to Food™ will make great study materials at practical food growing workshops. Melany and Ingmar are already in contact with people and organizations who are able to facilitate such workshops in schools and communities.
